28 It worked itself out somehow. Wow - This is weird, hovering over or clicking ANY of the top menus shows the dropdown menu for a slipt second then nothing.
Trying again and again, NOTHING! Completely DYSFUNCTIONAL This makes all the Menus completely Dysfunctional Over 2 days Later with every of these attempts below and MORE, and still PLAGUING the system. I am at a complete LOSS! 1/ I even re-installed Ubuntu-Gnome, 2/ Purged Steam, except App folders 3/ re-installed Steam, momentarily worked, so was optimistic, but then started again 2 minutes later 4/ backed up ALL my games (Hours of work) 5// COMPLETELY deleted ~/.steam (and all steamapps arghh!) 6/ also deleted ~/.local/share/steam 7/ re-installed steam for the 4th or 5th time with no game folders at all now - NO JOY! 8/ Re-Installed the OS AGAIN and purged as many home folder files as possible TOO Desperately!
9/ Installed from Multiverse enabled as always (no download from website as it has serious known issues) 10 And now a bare bones Steam, no apps and still the same problem It evens happens in PlayOnLinux with the Windows POL version - Unbelievable: steamsad: Wow I can't be the only one, Do I have the first Linux Virus in existence - it seems so! I recently switched to Google Chrome fro Firefox and thought this may have something to do with it. But why would it? I am a 8 year veteran of Linux and troubleshooting and have helped hundreds/thousands of others so am fairly well versed in Linux?? If I am having this issue I suspect thousands of others must be too, but nothing on the web! VERY WEIRD Thanks in advance Ubuntu-Gnome 16.10, NVidia 960m 370.28, Intel 4700HQ, All proprietary drivers working well, writing this in Google Chrome as Steam is impossible even for this (just to give one a further idea of this ridiculousness ARGHHHH. Well, a day ago I was hoping that the 3 Superstars would appear. Zyro, Maleko, Halifax - AWESOME.
SO still a mystery. And still a problem.
1/ I reinstalled again! But to 16.04 which ran flawlessly for 6 months of course. (as did 16.10 for 2 weeks) No Joy! 2/ I chose beta mode, steam restarted itself. 3/ I have been using NVidia's 370.28 for over a month with no issue, but I will try downgrading to 367 now.

I did notice that 370.28 had a 60 MB upgrade recently hmmmm? Maleko - I hate re-installing too, I would love to solve this. P.s.s PreDRK I thought of that too, The 'Focus' issue, and I had even gone into 'Universal Access' and checked there, and nothing unusual there. I changed a few things, still. Maleko w.r.t.

Use Nvidia 367.57 (latest long lived branch) rather than 370.28 (latest short lived branch), I will try that. And thanks for the tutorial, as I never new NVidia had short and 'Long Lived Branches' p.s. Maleko, as you already now 16.04 reproduced the same issue. Srh420, Yes I do have an Optimus laptop, but never have used, and am not using bumblebee. Components (8) CRLSet - Version: 3327 Status - Updated Check for update pnacl - Version: 0. Hmmm getting a little off track here but at least it is informative and entertaining, as I am new to Chrome having used Firefox forever, and had dabbled with chromium many times but always thought it looked just butt-ugly though I may have just been used to firefox.
